Thanks Alejandro. Yes, another topic I'll be talking about (I hinted at this in the guest post on The Tech Writers Stack, too) is story-framing. I've tried to do this a bit in this post, framing the key point within a "story". The story doesn't have to be intricate, as in this case, it's just a conversation with my daughter (which did really happen in real life—I was shocked she didn't reply "three cupcakes for her and none for me!")
Well said. Analogies and metaphors are very powerful in learning new things and understating new concepts!
Thanks Pawel. I'm planning to explore these ideas, including looking at recent scientific research on this topic, and share what I find here!
I'm enjoying this project, and it's still at the very beginning (Episodes 2, 3, and 4 are ready and scheduled already!)
Some relevant AI researchers like Douglas Hofstadter and Melanie Mitchell actually argue that analogy is at the core of human intelligence.
I've been reading more about the neuroscience research and other studies and expert opinions about this. I'll look up these references too.
And as you can imagine, I'll be writing about the stuff I find!
Brilliant analogy Stephen. The whole article itself could be an almost perfect example of this very mindset.
